Grandpa's Barbecue Meatballs

Total Time: 1 hr 30 mins Preparation Time: 30 mins Cook Time: 1 hr

Ingredients

  • 3 lbs ground beef
  • 1 (12 ounce) can evaporated milk
  • 1 cup oatmeal
  • 1 cup cracker crumb
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup onion (chopped)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 2 cups ketchup
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon liquid smoke (to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 cup onion (chopped)

Recipe

  • 1 to make meatballs, combine meatball ingredients. mixture will be soft.
  • 2 wet hands and shape into walnut-sized balls or larger if desired.
  • 3 to make sauce, combine all ingredients and stir until sugar is dissolved.
  • 4 place meatballs in a 13 x 9x 2 inch pan.
  • 5 pour sauce over each meatball.
  • 6 bake at 350 degrees for 1 hour for small meatballs, or l hour 15 minutes or longer for large ones until thoroughly cooked inside.
  • 7 yield: 80 small or 25 large meatballs. these meatballs can be frozen before cooking on waxed paper-lined cookie sheets and then stored in plastic freezer bags in the freezer, or they may be baked and then frozen as desired.
