Grossinger's Sweet Potato And Prune Tzimmes W/ Meat

Ingredients
- Servings: 6
- 1 1/2 lbs prunes
- 3 cups boiling water
- 2 tablespoons oil
- 3 lbs beef brisket, cut into 6 pieces
- 2 onions, diced
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 3 sweet potatoes, peeled and cut into chunks
- 1/2 cup honey
- 2 cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
Recipe
- 1 1. wash prunes and let them soak in the boiling water for 1/2 hour.
- 2 2. heat the oil, in a dutch oven, over medium.
- 3 3. brown the meat with the onions.
- 4 4. sprinkle with salt and pepper.
- 5 5. cover and cook on low heat for 1 hour.
- 6 6. add the undrained prunes, sweet potatoes, honey, cloves and cinnamon.
- 7 7. replace cover loosely and cook over low heat at least 2 hours ( more is better).
