Philly Beef 'n' Pepper Strata

Total Time: 9 hrs 20 mins Preparation Time: 8 hrs Cook Time: 1 hr 20 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 12
  • 7 cups italian bread, cubed
  • 16 ounces frozen peppers and onions, stir-fry blend
  • 3/4 lb cooked beef, cut into strips
  • 2 cups shredded monterey jack cheese
  • 8 eggs
  • 2 1/4 cups milk
  • 2 tablespoons dijon mustard
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Recipe

  • 1 place a third of the bread cubes in a greased 13 x 9 inches baking dish. layer with a third of the pepper/onion blend, roast beef, and cheese. repeat layers twice.
  • 2 in a large bowl, whisk the eggs, milk, mustard, salt and pepper, pour over the top.
  • 3 cover and refrigerate for 8 hours or overnight.
  • 4 remove from refrigerator 30 minutes before baking.
  • 5 bake, covered at 325 for 1 hour.
  • 6 uncover and bake 15-20 minutes longer or until a knife inserted in the middle comes out clean. let stand for 10 minutes before serving.
