French Onion Soup

Ingredients
- Servings: 4
- 4 large onions
- 6 cups beef stock or 6 cups beef bouillon
- 1/4 cup butter or 1/4 cup margarine
- 1 1/2 teaspoons salt
Recipe
- 1 cut peeled onions in half lengthwise.
- 2 slice into thin slices.
- 3 saute in butter in frying pan until a rich brown colour.
- 4 add beef stock or bouillon and salt.
- 5 simmer to distribute flavour and to finish cooking onion.
- 6 ladle into bowls.
- 7 top with toasted slices of french bread or croutons.
- 8 cover with lots of cheese.
- 9 bake in 450°f oven or broil to melt and brown cheese.
