Mother's Spaghetti Sauce

Ingredients
- 4 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 cup onion, chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 cup sliced mushrooms
- 4 cups italian plum tomatoes, chopped
- 12 ounces tomato paste
- 3 cups water
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1/2 teaspoon pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon oregano
- 1 bay leaf
- 1/2 teaspoon italian seasoning
Recipe
- 1 heat oil in a pan and sauté the onion and garlic until golden brown.
- 2 add the beef and cook until the meat looses it's red color.
- 3 add mushrooms and cook 3 minutes longer, stirring occasionally.
- 4 add tomatoes, tomato paste, water, salt, pepper, sugar, oregano, bay leaf, and italian seasoning.
- 5 simmer uncovered for about 2 hours, stirring occasionally.
