Mother's Spaghetti Sauce

Total Time: 2 hrs 45 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 2 hrs 30 mins

Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 cup onion, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 cup sliced mushrooms
  • 4 cups italian plum tomatoes, chopped
  • 12 ounces tomato paste
  • 3 cups water
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • 1 bay leaf
  • 1/2 teaspoon italian seasoning

Recipe

  • 1 heat oil in a pan and sauté the onion and garlic until golden brown.
  • 2 add the beef and cook until the meat looses it's red color.
  • 3 add mushrooms and cook 3 minutes longer, stirring occasionally.
  • 4 add tomatoes, tomato paste, water, salt, pepper, sugar, oregano, bay leaf, and italian seasoning.
  • 5 simmer uncovered for about 2 hours, stirring occasionally.
