Meat And Potato Hash With Dumplings (beef)

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 500 g minced beef
  • half a swede, peeled and cubed
  • 800 g potatoes, peeled and cubed
  • 4 carrots, peeled and sliced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 oxo cubes made up to 1/2 pt beef stock
  • 100 g self raising flour
  • 50 g suet

Recipe

  • 1 par boil potato and swede.
  • 2 brown minced beef, carrot and onion for 5 minutes in a large pot.
  • 3 drain potato and swede and add to minced beef pot.
  • 4 add beef stock.
  • 5 bring to boil, season and simmer for 20 minutes.
  • 6 make dumplings by mixing flour and suet with a little cold water until they hold together but are not sticky. make into tablespoon size balls and add to pot. they should float.
  • 7 simmer for about 30 minutes or until dumplings are ready. add more water if it starts to dry out.
