New Zealand Meat Patties

Ingredients
- Servings: 4
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 1/2 cups raw potatoes, grated
- 3 tablespoons onions, chopped
- 1 egg, beaten
- 1/2 cup light cream
- 1 1/4 teaspoons salt (or to taste)
- 1/4 teaspoon pepper (or to taste)
- 8 tablespoons butter, divided
- 4 tablespoons flour
- 2 cups milk
Recipe
- 1 combine beef, potato, onions, egg, cream, salt and pepper.
- 2 mix well and shape into 12 thin patties.
- 3 melt 4 tablespoons butter in a skillet.
- 4 saute patties about 7-8 minutes.
- 5 turn over and saute for 7-8 minutes more.
- 6 remove and keep warm.
- 7 melt remaining butter in skillet.
- 8 whisk in flour.
- 9 gradually add milk, whisking constantly.
- 10 bring just to a boil, stirring constantly.
- 11 reduce heat to low and cook 5 minutes.
- 12 pour over the meat patties.
