New Zealand Meat Patties

Total Time: 35 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 25 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 1 lb ground beef
  • 1 1/2 cups raw potatoes, grated
  • 3 tablespoons onions, chopped
  • 1 egg, beaten
  • 1/2 cup light cream
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons salt (or to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper (or to taste)
  • 8 tablespoons butter, divided
  • 4 tablespoons flour
  • 2 cups milk

Recipe

  • 1 combine beef, potato, onions, egg, cream, salt and pepper.
  • 2 mix well and shape into 12 thin patties.
  • 3 melt 4 tablespoons butter in a skillet.
  • 4 saute patties about 7-8 minutes.
  • 5 turn over and saute for 7-8 minutes more.
  • 6 remove and keep warm.
  • 7 melt remaining butter in skillet.
  • 8 whisk in flour.
  • 9 gradually add milk, whisking constantly.
  • 10 bring just to a boil, stirring constantly.
  • 11 reduce heat to low and cook 5 minutes.
  • 12 pour over the meat patties.
