Grandma Sahlstrom's Ham Loaf

Total Time: 1 hr 50 mins Preparation Time: 20 mins Cook Time: 1 hr 30 mins

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 lbs veal or 1 1/2 lbs ground beef
  • 1 lb finely ground ham
  • 1 cup cracker crumb
  • 1 cup milk
  • salt & pepper
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons paprika
  • 1 tablespoon dry mustard
  • 1/2 cup vinegar
  • 1/2 cup water

Recipe

  • 1 mix first 6 ingredients, well with hands and mold in pan. cover with foil and bake at 250 – 275 degrees for 2 ½ - 3 hours. keep covered until the last 1hr.
  • 2 while ham loaf is baking prepare sauce with remaining ingredients: place all ingredients in a small sauce pan bring to a boil for a minute. simmer 10-15 minutes.
  • 3 when one hour remains drain off liquid from ham loaf and pour over sauce ham loaf. basting every 15 minutes until sauce forms a glaze. turn up a heat a little.
