Pastitsio Pie

Total Time: 40 mins Preparation Time: 10 mins Cook Time: 30 mins

Ingredients

  • Servings: 4
  • 200 g penne
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, crushed
  • 500 g ground beef
  • 500 g pasta sauce
  • 340 g fresh bechamel sauce
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 cup parmesan cheese, shredded

Recipe

  • 1 preheat oven to 180°c.
  • 2 grease a 22cm springform pan, and line base and sides with baking paper.
  • 3 cook pasta until tender. drain. return to pan.
  • 4 heat oil in large frypan. add onion and garlic. cook for 5 minutes.
  • 5 add mince and cook until brown. add pasta sauce and 1/4c water. simmer uncovered for 5-7 minutes or until sauce thickens. add to pasta.
  • 6 combine bechamel sauce and eggs. add 1/2c to pasta mix, stir to combine.
  • 7 place pasta mix in pan. smooth surface. pour over remaining sauce. sprinkle with parmesan.
  • 8 bake 25-30 minutes until golden.
  • 9 stand 20 minutes. slice into wedges and serve.
