French Onion Soup

Ingredients
- 3 -4 large onions, sliced thin
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1 tablespoon flour
- 1/2 cup wine
- 7 teaspoons beef base
- 8 cups water
- 8 slices of dry french bread
- 8 slices swiss cheese
- parmesan cheese, for sprinkling on top (optional)
- black pepper
Recipe
- 1 saute onions in melted butter until translucent and soft.
- 2 add flour and stir.
- 3 add wine and cook for a couple of minutes.
- 4 add water and soup base.
- 5 simmer for about 1 hour.
- 6 add slice of bread to bowl and top with soup and 1 slice of cheese. sprinkle with parmesan and broil until cheese is melted.
