French Onion Soup

Total Time: 1 hr 15 mins Preparation Time: 15 mins Cook Time: 1 hr

Ingredients

  • 3 -4 large onions, sliced thin
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 tablespoon flour
  • 1/2 cup wine
  • 7 teaspoons beef base
  • 8 cups water
  • 8 slices of dry french bread
  • 8 slices swiss cheese
  • parmesan cheese, for sprinkling on top (optional)
  • black pepper

Recipe

  • 1 saute onions in melted butter until translucent and soft.
  • 2 add flour and stir.
  • 3 add wine and cook for a couple of minutes.
  • 4 add water and soup base.
  • 5 simmer for about 1 hour.
  • 6 add slice of bread to bowl and top with soup and 1 slice of cheese. sprinkle with parmesan and broil until cheese is melted.
